cfp: International Conference on the History of Cartography, 2021

The cfp for the next ICHC has been posted: https://ichc2021.com/call-for-papers/. The host institution is the relatively new National Museum of Maps and Old Books together with the University of Bucharest.

The conference themes are:

a) Imperial and Anti-Imperial Cartographies

b) Frontier Cartographies

c) Cartographies of Nostalgia and Imagination

d) Cartographies of Difference and Map Consumption

e) Any other aspect of the history of cartography

The deadline for submission of proposals is Monday, 5 October 2020.

It’s perhaps a hard time to think about the future — I’m certainly not in a good head space to do so — but it needs to be done! Any ideas for innovative panels?

Mapping as Process

Mapping as Process is a space for me to explore a new approach to understanding mapping and its history. The exploration will eventually contribute to a book of the same name.
